Ciao tutti!
Well, there are so many new things that have been going on here in Italy. One is that we found a church! It's an Assemblies of God church right here in Teramo! The people there are great and although the service is all in Italian, there is one family that speaks English pretty well so they translate for us. Praise God! So it's great being around other fellow believers and even though we have some what of a language barrier, we are connected through the Lord. We even got to eat with two different families in their homes and fellowship with them. We had a great time!
Well, as far as basketball is concerned, our team is doing great! We are now 6 - 4 and on our way to hopefully making the Italian Cup for the first time in history. I'm playing decently, averaging about 9 points and 4 rebounds per game. Hopefully, we continue our success as a team and make it to the playoffs!
We also had our first visitor in October!! Kevin Walker (remember, you have to say his name with a British accent!)! It was a great time! We went to Rome, La Fortezza del Tronto, Giulianova, and Rieti. While in Rome, we saw all the main historical points but the most memorable was seeing the Cupola of St. Peter's Basilica. In order to get up to the top of the dome, we had to climb up 320 steps in a very narrow and slanted passage way! You talk about work! Once we got to the top it was well worth it. The 360 degree view from up there was amazing! You could practically see all of Rome. Then after all the excitement, we were able to break our Italian taste buds with some Hard Rock Cafe! Good old nachos with cheddar cheese, hamburger with angus beef, and real barbecue sauce! There are plenty of other stories we could share while Kevin was here, like his fine ability to walk up stairs, and our performance on iMovie, but we won't! When you go to our site to view the photos in the media gallery, you'll see a few pictures of Kevin while he was out here. (Kevin - to you here's a "Cheers!")
And last but not least, we have update our media gallery page with new pictures from Rome, The Vatican, La Fortezza del Tronto, and Rieti. There are photos of the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, the American Embassy, different fountains, and of course the Vatican. La Fortezza del Tronto is an old fortress that now serves as a historical point in Italy. Then there are a few photos of Rieti and some small towns on the way to Rieti (where Tara and Kevin drank the "smelly water"). There's even a picture of Kevin's french fry pizza in the Teramo, Italy link!
Well, time to sign off. Chat with everyone later.
